IHRAM, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF PERFORMING UMRAH AND HAJJ
Every year millions of Muslims visit Mecca to perform the Umrah and Hajj, the first step for any pilgrim that is wishing to perform pilgrimage is to enter in the state of Ihram, believed to be in a state of special spiritual purity.
Ihram is an Arabic word that reflects a sacred state in which a Muslim enters in Mecca in order to perform Umrah and Hajj. Ihram is the important part in performing Hajj and Umrah. Ihram is avoiding some acts that are forbidden for the sake of ALLAH for certain period of time. Generally for men, there are the sheets of cloth that pilgrims wear are known as Ihram, ihram is a complete set of code of conduct that a person is required to follow when you wear it. When a person announce the Niyyat (intention) of performing HaJJ and Umrah and utters Talbiyah, there are some general things that are permissible but becomes forbidden for a pilgrim after coming in the state of ihram. For women ihram is utterly different. Women are supposed to cover their whole body by wearing general clothes except covering their hands and face because it is completely prohibited during pilgrimage.
There is procedure of observing ihram like shape the beard, Comb hairs, trimming moustache, cutting nails. Take a proper bath with the intention by heart of Ihram. Men should have to wear two sheets of white cloth one around the waist and second covers the upper body part. Women’s wears ordinary clothes for their Ihram. Men and Women should wear shoes so that the middle bones of the upper part of their feet are uncovered. After that pilgrim should offer Nafil Salah or Namaz, pray two rakat of nafil namaz for Ihram. Nowadays it has become the common practice of pilgrims to wear their ihram before reaching.
In order to perform Hajj and umrah, Muslim men and women has to enter in the state of Ihram. Without wearing Ihram, one cannot perform Hajj or Umrah. Basically, Ihram is a term of becoming in sacred state that is very important to carry the required rituals to complete Umrah or hajj.
During the Hajj and Umrah pilgrims perform various rituals. It is a perfect time when they are supposed to dedicate their beings to ALLAH. While performing Hajj and Umrah people from all backgrounds, countries, irrespective of culture, wealth, job ethnicity etc are deemed to be equal.
It is an obligatory precaution of clothing Ihram and the way of wearing Ihram as it is common. This means that the pilgrim must wrap the Izar in the way that at least it covers the body part from the belly to the knees and put Rida’ on the upper part to cover. There is not any condition about the quality or colour of the Ihram clothing, but Ihram for men should not be sewn.
