FORGIVE THOSE PEOPLE WHO HURT YOU, ISLAM LIKE THE ACT OF FORGIVENESS
No one can imagine the feeling of looking at the man who murdered your uncle, who cut out the organs of his body and gave it to someone to eat, and now think about forgiving him. Imagine being taunted and abused, and when given the chance to retaliate, you forgive instead of retaliation. This was the Messenger of ALLAH, our beloved Prophet (PBUH), a man described as:
Translation of Surah Al-Ahzaab verse 33;
“An excellent exemplar for those who hope in ALLAH and the Last Day”
Many of us can’t forgive our friends, parents or spouses when they say any hurtful things in general or in anger. We hold grudges for many years in our hearts; we never forget the things that people have done to us.
It is a nature of human that he or she gets upset at someone when they’ve done wrong to you or hurt you. The Prophet (PBUH) told us that a Muslims are not allowed to break off their ties with another Muslim for more than 3 days.
Forgiving means, not carrying a grudge or complain in your heart against the person who have done anything wrong to you. Forgiving is actually that if you are giving the chance to retaliate, you would choose to forget rather than fighting them.
If you trusted someone and that person betrayed your trust, forgiveness doesn’t mean that you trust them again if they don’t give you the reason. ALLAH is the most greater and merciful; whatever we do for others ALLAH will multiply that for us.
Many Psychologists have said that the lack of ability to forgive people may cause a person to continually bring bitterness and anger into every relationship. When a person is not able to move from his or her previous experiences than insecurity and ego matter caused.
We should not ask to a person about what he has done to us, but rather we should inform them that they have hurt us and the act done by them was wrong, and after that we should move on, because we, being human are unable to change the past, but we can se it in positive way to empower ourselves to become better person.
According to Hadees:
Whoever suffers an injury and forgives, ALLAH will raise his status to a higher degree and remove one of his sins. (Hadith Tirmidhi)
ALLAH always pays reward to a person who suffers from pain or hurt by someone.
Forgiving others teaches us sympathy.
In Quran ALLAH says in verse 2:263 of Surah Al-Baqarah
Kind speech and forgiveness are better than charity followed by injury.
May ALLAH give us the power and strength to forgive others for their faults and the act of hurting. Ameen.
