Travelling or visiting to Makkah and Madina as a part of Hajj rituals is itself a sacred practice that takes a person closer to the ALLAH Almighty and helps him seek HIS blessings. Though, most think to perform this significant ritual only in the last days of their life. In fact, the most excellent time for anyone to do the Hajj a sacred ritual is the youth when he or she is in good health and also capable of bearing the hardships that are required during Umrah and Hajj.

Obligations of Hajj

  • Ihram

It refers to wearing two piece white cloths by males and an ordinary dress for females provided that it fulfils the conditions of clothing for women as stated in Islam. Acquiring this condition tends the pilgrim into state of ritual purity and should forbid activities like shaving, smoking, nail cutting etc.

  • Tawaaf

Tawaaf (circumambulation) is circulating around Holy Kaaba in counter clockwise seven times. Pilgrims kiss the Hajr-e-Aswad (Black Stone). Those pilgrims who cannot reach the Hajr-e-Aswad can point their hand palms toward the stone.

  • Saaee

Saaee involves walking or running between the mountains of Safa and Marwa seven times after completing the Tawaaf (circumambulation). The mountains are located close to Holy Kaaba and completely enclosed by the

Masjid-Al-Haram.

  • Stoning the shetan

Pilgrims throw stones at the largest pillar Jamrat Al- Aqabah located in Mina as a part of the symbolic Rami al-Jamarat ritual. Pilgrims collect these stones from Muzdalifah a night before where they sleep and spend night in the open sky. In the 4th and 5th day of the Hajj, pilgrims return to Mina to stone all the three pillars.

  • Qurbani (slaughtering)

Qurbani (Sacrificing of Animals) takes place on the 10th day of

Dhu al-Hijjah. Muslims all over the world perform the same act in parallel as a part of Eid-Al-Adha.
