ISLAM IN THE DIFFERENT FIELDS OF THE WORLD
Islam gave lot to the world in terms of science arts, medicines and culture. The world owes great deal to Islam in various fields of life. The Quran gives reflection with heavenly signs like the brilliant shining stars. It invites person to study natural and mathematical sciences and many other fields.
The field of medicines and Islam:
Besides mathematics, the Muslim gave a lot to the world in the field of medicine. Muslim doctor and medical experts thought deeply over the Quranic command.
“O you who believe, eat the good things that we have provided for you and be grateful to ALLAH if it is him that you worship” (2:172)
From the above Quranic verse it is cleard that lawful (Halal) food is necessity for maintaining sound health. Unlawful (Haraam) food is forbidden and it is harmful for health. In addition to its stress on Halal and clean food, the Quran commands believers to eat meat only of such animals that have been slaughtered in the name of ALLAH. Eating of non-Halal meat has been described as sinful (fisq) which leads to the lowliness of character.
The Prophet (PBUH) saying there is no disease without a cure, made the Muslim doctors think deeply about different illnesses and they discovered medicines useful for treating them. They learnt about diseases by observation of the sick, it means that they carefully watched how disease acted on people who had it. By observation, they learnt that small-pox and measles were two different diseases.
Muslim doctors were probably the best to have their clinics, hospitals and medical colleges were numerous. All doctors were subject to state examination. To engage in practice they had to be licensed.
According to Hadees:
There is no disease for which ALLAH has not sent a cure.
The art of beautiful handwriting:
Have you ever thought of handwriting as an art like painting? The Muslim considered handwriting the great of the arts. The art of beautiful handwriting is called Calligraphy; it was the art use to make copies of Quran and writing its verses on the arches of mosques in colourful design this was done with great care. Some people made copies of Holy Book entirely in gold. The Muslims developed many of the arts connected with book-binding, skilled artist bound the pages of the book together between the covers of the soft leathers.
Factories:
The Arabs produced many things. Factories of all kind were founded across the Islamic world like soap factory in Basra, carpet industry in Iran etc.
Muslim thinkers and scientists kept the lamp of learning burning bright. It is well-known that there are more than 750 Quranic verses which deal with nature. Quranic verses involve an important message for the Muslim scientists.
Translation: And in the creation of yourselves and what He disperses of moving creatures are signs for people who are certain [in faith].(45:4)
