ELIGIBILITY FACTORS THAT ARE REQUIRED TO PERFORM UMRAH

Umrah

Islam is a religion of peace that intends peace and ease for its believers. Although there is preaching of Islam on which there is no compromise, however, Islam commends the Muslims in undertaking things in facilitating and easy manner. Islam wants it’s for its followers to be good Muslims and always stay and follow the right path in as simple manner as possible.

There are basic five pillars of Islam in which the first pillar is Shahadat that requires a person to convert to Islam, all the pillars are obligatory on all Muslims. Performing namaz is also a pillar of Islam and also obligatory upon Muslim; however, if a person cannot be able to offer namaz in the prescribed way, they can offer while sitting, if even a person cant perform namaz while sitting then they can pray namaz while lying down. Islam brings easiness to a Muslim. The lines given below discuss the situation which has to be met in order to perform Umrah.

 Imaan (Faith):

The first and the most important factor that is required to be present in order to perform Umrah is Imaan (Faith). A person cannot offer Umrah or receive its religious benefits and rewards unless he or she does not have Imaan (faith). Now this faith should also be present on the two levels. A person cannot be considered as Muslim without having Imaan in ALLAH Almighty and if a Muslim doesn’t have faith in Supremacy of ALLAH then there is no point in offering Umrah. Umrah is a form of worship that refers to ALLAH Almighty and His worship and praise. If a Muslim thinks that Umrah is a set of activities, then he will perform just like an activity and there will not possibly be any reward for this, until and unless the true spirit of Imaan (faith) rises in him. In Holy Quran ALLAH Almighty says; verse 9:54:

“And nothing prevents their contribution from being accepted from them except that they disbelieved in ALLAH and in His Messenger.”

So, in order to be eligible for Umrah, a Muslim has to have true Imaan in ALLAH.

 Being Sensible and Adult:

Umrah is an event of gathering of mass, where Muslims from all around the world gather to perform prescribed set of activities and rituals in an order. For performing umrah a person has to do complete research and find out the essential and obligatory acts of Umrah, for this reason a Muslim also needs to be sane and adult.

A child cannot be considered for umrah because a child does not know about the obligations of umrah and cannot perform the physical effort required in umrah.

Financially and Physically Able:

The two most significant things that umrah requires from a Muslim are finances and health. Umrah requires physical effort in which pilgrims have to do tawaaf around the Kaaba. Then pilgrim have to run between the two mountains that are Safa and Marwa which is called ‘Sai’ Therefore to accomplish all these tasks and rituals of Umrah successfully a person needs to be physically healthy. On the other side, travelling to Mecca, staying there and eating charges all require huge finances. If a person can not bear the finances then staying in Mecca can become difficult for a pilgrim.
