HAJJ IS OBLIGATORY WORSHIP AND SACRED JOURNEY TO MAKKAH

hajj1

The pilgrimage (Hajj) is

1) One of the most significant pillars of Islam.
2) A principal means of obtaining nearness to the ALLAH Almighty.
3) One of the most difficult and hard physical forms of worship.
The main purpose of human creation is to recognize ALLAH and achieve a stage of acquaintance and love for Him and this only depends on the loftiness and purity and of the human soul, i.e. the purer the heart and soul becomes the more love will it have for the ALLAH Almighty.

This stage of love can be achieved by abstaining from wishes and refraining from worldly distractions and pleasures, and by exerting oneself in the exact self-training activities for the sake of ALLAH, and, remembering ALLAH continuously. For this purpose the ALLAH Almighty has legislated different forms of worship (Ibadat).

Hajj involves,
i) Leaving a person’s from hometown.
ii) Physical effort.
iii) Huge Expenditure of wealth.
iv) Renewal of the agreement with ALLAH.
v) Circumambulation (Tawaaf).
vi) Dua (Supplication).
vii) Prayers (Namaaz or Salat).
And others like throwing pebbles on shetan, running between mountains of Safaa and Marwah etc.

Niyyat (intention) for Hajj

  1. The Niyyat (intention) should be sincere and pure for the sake of ALLAH only, but not for any other worldly pleasures or motives, such as,
    1) Riyaa (Showing off).
    2) Avoid rebukes for not performing Hajj.
    3) Fear of poverty for it is well-known that a person who does not perform Hajj is afflicted with the condition of poverty.
    4) Business scenario, etc.

All these other motives and factors destroy the sincerity (Ikhlaas) of the deeds and deny one of the promised rewards. It is foolish to undertake all this expense and rigor only to end up in Damnation because the purpose and motive was adulterated.

A person should sincerely regret of past sins and clear all the dues and purify himself of all distractions so that the mind and heart easily turned towards ALLAH.

A person should remember the majesty of the House of ALLAH and the Absolute Owner, and that one has preferred to leave friends, family, and possessions for the noble and lofty purpose of visiting a House of ALLAH that is Kaaba, which the ALLAH Almighty has designed as a shelter for all people. Hence this journey to Makkah differs from all other worldly journeys. The pilgrim must free himself of all worldly matters, which tend to trouble him so his whole attention is towards the ALLAH Almighty.

The Pilgrim must ensure his earnings are acquired and earned through lawful means.

He or she should behave courteously towards his fellow travellers, talking and smiling gently with them, avoid using harsh words, vain or abuses talk. He or she should be humble to the other guests of the ALLAH Almighty.
