The benefits of Zam-Zam (pure and sacred water)

Religious significance of Zam-Zam water

Prophet (S.A.W.W) mentioned in his hadith, ‘Zam-Zam water is the best water on this earth. It is a food and also a cure for diseases’. Likewise, Prophet (S.A.W.W) said, ‘The Zam-Zam water suffices the intention with which it is taken’. Therefore, if a person drinks it with an intention of purity and cure then he/she will be cured. Hazrat Ibn-e-Abbas (R.A) narrates a hadith from Prophet (S.A.W.W), ‘fever is an exemplification of Hell, hence cool it down with the Zam-Zam water’.

Hazrat Ibn-e-Abbas (R.A) once mentioned the qualities of Zam-Zam water, ‘It can neither diminish nor decrease. It also suffices in place of food and cures many diseases and is better than every known water in this world’.

Zam-Zam as a food

Hazrat Abu Zar (R.A) survived one month on Zam-Zam water. He had nothing in his stomach except Zam-Zam water. Despite of all this, he had no signs of weakness from hunger. He himself said, ‘when I became a Muslim I requested Prophet (S.A.W.W) that I have been living here for one month. Prophet (S.A.W.W) asked, ‘what have you been eating here?’ I said, ‘Prophet (S.A.W.W) I had no food except the Zam-Zam water and still I have become so fat and I don’t feel any weakness. Prophet (S.A.W.W) said, ‘it is blessed water and it serves in place of food’.

Zam-Zama cure

There are millions of incidents which illustrates the glory of Zam-Zam water as blessed water. One such incident is of a Muslim Moroccan woman who was diagnosed with cancer. She was ignorant of the remembrance of Allah instead she had pride in her beauty. When she got to know about her disease she went to Belgium for her treatment.
